Ration Relief 2020 – Swat
CDRS Director of Operations for Sindh and Balochistan Junaid Nazir and his team are halfway through our mission for UK Medical Aid to Pakistan (UKMAP), having delivered family food packs to feed over 600 people in the remote villages of Spin Karez and Kahnak, two hours outside of Quetta.
Next stop for the team is Jafarabad, Balochistan today and tomorrow.
CDRS is extremely grateful to UKMAP and its donors for making this mission happen. UKMAP has been one of our greatest partners for the past 8 years, having worked together with us in planning, implementing and funding reverse osmosis water filtration plants, medical camps in disaster zones, and providing major support to our Mother & Child Health Center in Northern Swat
Mission photos are essential to my organization proving our efforts to donors and potential donors. Every photo of every CDRS mission in the last 15 years has been taken with the utmost respect and after taking the permission of the communities we are serving, and every photo which shows the face of any beneficiary is taken with that person’s permission. We take photos so we can show our work in hopes of getting more support to serve more families. Many times the answer is no, and we respect that. In KPK, communities and individuals are more strict and careful about photos, other places seem to welcome having their picture taken. In some cases beneficiaries actually ask to have their picture taken and want to tell their story to everyone. We never pressurise anyone to allow us to take their picture, and we make it clear we are documenting our work for donors and auditors and make sure they know if they aren’t comfortable with getting their photo taken, then we will still help them. The young girl smiling in one of the photos was so happy to have a huge package of food to bring home to her family, she demanded to have her photo.
